For Christmas last year Jenna and I were given tickets to see the musical Matilda by Mikayla (who gifted herself a ticket too) and the long awaited date finally arrived. We decided to make the most of the event by booking a hotel for the night in the city and to go in early, explore and just have fun.
(For someone who loves theater I don't go to it nearly enough and make a promise to myself that I should do it more often but usually find myself going through another year saying to myself damn I should have.......)
As you may have seen in this blog (and I am sure you will see many more times) I enjoy being a tourist in my own town, exploring 'my own backyard' because no matter how many times I explore it I always seem to find something new and this weekend was no exception.
We set off into town early, to enjoy the beautiful weather and were lucky enough to get an early check in at the Victoria Hotel in Little Collin St which is nice hotel in a great location, We dumped our overnight bags in the room and just got out and explored, walking down lanes and alleys and it never fails to amaze me what a beautiful city I live in
Harajuku crepes filled our empty bellies and reminded me of the pancakes Samara and I ate in Harajuku Tokyo and I really wish I had buckets of money so I could go back to Japan (and a few other Asian destinations like Korea or Vietnam, Laos or Bhutan) to eat some more crepes (and some noodle soup and sushi and......) but I digress.
The theater beckoned and the absolutely marvelous Matilda, which was Jenna's favorite
movie growing up so to see a wonderful live stage version of it was a dream come true and I think it would be great to see another version of it either on the West End or Broadway one day.
What I loved about the musical were the amazing performances and the 'magic' and that feeling of anything is possible if you believe.
