Samara and I spent the morning saying our farewells to Charles and Yuki at the Teddy Bear House and taking a last look around Nikko before heading to Narita for our final night in Japan. The train trip from Nikko to Narita took roughly 3hours and we opted for a hotel near the airport so we don't have to get up too early tomorrow morning and stress out about whether we will make it to the airport on time. The plan had been to spend the afternoon wandering around Narita but we got a cherry blossom alert while we were on the train to Narita and decided to head back in to Tokyo to see if we could get some photos.
Shame we hadn't got that alert an hour earlier because we could have put our bags in storage and headed straight to the blossoms instead of wasting two hours on the train to and from Narita. For those of you who have been to Narita you will know that it is not a short trip back into Tokyo..(it's an hour away).so we knew were were pushing for time to catch the blossoms in daylight.
..first stop Yoyogi Park only to arrive to be told that they were shutting the gates for the night so we spent another thirty minutes on a train getting to Ueno Park.....and yes they were in glorious bloom, but the sun had already set and we didn't get to appreciate them properly.
We did however get to enjoy the experience of Hanami where people are partying under the sakura blossoms at night. It was fun wandering through the park, enjoying the celebrations with everyone and even though we didn't get to experience the true beauty of the blossom it was still wonderful.
We finished off the day with our last wander around Tokyo, enjoying the lights, the sounds and scents before heading to Okachimachi station for the last use of our JR Rail pass, our train trip to Narita and I know I have a great lot of memories stored up of another fantastic trip to Japan.
