Melbourne from the Yarra

I love Melbourne, it's a great city to live in and play tourist in and I got the opportunity again this weekend. I had a hen's night to go to and like a lot of them it involved alcohol, food, games, a lot of laughs and dare I say it? Male strippers!!!!

However venues differ and I was lucky enough to be spending the

evening on a boat on the Yarra River. The Yarra River runs through the heart of Melbourne and has many different boat cruises on it, from site seeing cruises, to dinner cruises, boats that take you from the heart of the city to Williamstown which is a beachside suburb of Melbourne and then of course there are the hen/stag parties that are held on board. The river cruises vary in price from $25 for an hour site-seeing cruise, $22 one way for the Williamstown cruise or $140 for a dinner cruise and I would recommend it as another way to see the beautiful city that I live in and I will have to make sure that I take the opportunity to do either one again.

I saw more of the scenery than the strippers and I'm honestly not complaining as it was a beautiful night, warm and dry and the passing scenery enhanced by the Moomba Festival that is held every year on the first long weekend in March. Moomba (the Aboriginal meaning is 'let's get together and have fun) is a festival celebrating life in Melbourne and there are parades, a fun fair and fireworks, a water-skiing show, and performances and it is a lot of fun. The fireworks added to the fun and as I was sitting on the deck most of the night on 'baby-sitting' duty I was glad for the distraction and thoroughly enjoyed the views and I would recommend a river-boat cruise at any time (even one with strippers!!!)
