Last Day of our Foodie "Staycation"

We decided to keep it simple today as we needed to check out and head back to our real lives in suburbia. We wanted to take full advantage of the fact that we didn't need to check out until 10am so it was a leisurely morning sipping tea on the 'balcony' and watching the hustle and bustle as the market came to life.
We checked out, and asked the hotel if they would store our bags for a couple of hours so we could have our final wander around which they were happy to do.

First stop was breakfast in the market, pancakes and berries for me and waffles, bananas and nutella for Linda before wandering around the market. I forget how much I love shopping in markets and although the Queen Vic Market isn't the cheapest (being a slightly touristy market) there are still bargains to be found (and if I was living in the area.... fingers crossed one day .....I would food shop here on a regular basis because there were so many choices and the food looked so good). I saw some beautiful clothes and some really nice cardigan/coat type things that I wish I had had in South Korea (as I found I was carrying mine more than I was wearing it some days) but although tempted I decided to pick up some scarves instead, three for ten dollars and that was enough to satisfy my shopping fever.

From the market we headed towards Flagstaff Gardens to appreciate one of the many green spaces in the middle of the city before having one last coffee at a place called Operator 25 on Wills St. While we were in South Korea I became a little obsessed with sweet potato lattes and I had searched out if there were any places in Melbourne which did them and there are but randomly and Operator 25 was on that list. Unfortunately it was not one of those times so I made do with a chai latte, I perused the brunch menu and wished I had room to fit something in but alas......oh well a good excuse to come back and have another 'staycation' in the city!!!

We reluctantly headed back to the hotel to pick up our bags to make our journey home, having enjoyed our time eating, walking and appreciating art in the city and I have a feeling it won't be the last 'staycation' I have in the city.
However our 'foodie staycation' was not over until we had an early steak dinner at the local pub and I realized how much I love eating and how important food is on any holiday you have.
