Not Just a Little But a Lot of Magic

I am very fortunate to live in the theatre capital of Australia and having a couple of my children who love the theatre as much as I do and I finally got to use my Christmas and birthday presents this week.
It started with "Harry Potter and The Cursed Child" which was fabulous, magical and if you are are Harry Potter freak (like most of my family members) the story fits in well with the rest of them and gives you a taste of what life is like 19 years on. The Princess Theatre is home to Harry Potter and has undergone major renovations and is a spectacular venue for a spectacular show.

My next theatrical experience was at the school were I work and the production of 'Labyrinth' which was amazing for a school production and the kids and staff involved in putting on the did a magnificent job with simple props and costumes that transformed the stage into the goblin's labyrinth.
Our final taste of theatre was 'Come From Away' at the Comedy Theatre which is an amazing show centered around the events of 911 and the days after on the island of Newfoundland Canada and the Gander Airport. The musical was fantastic, lots of laughter, tears, great music and very touching stories and I would highly recommend it.

Having this rich experience at the theatre this week has reminded me how much I love seeing live performances, whether it is plays, musicals or music acts and I really have no excuse not to go to more because we have such a wide variety in Melbourne, from the big Broadway and West End productions tos the smaller grassroots theatre companies and performance groups, I shouldn't limit myself to waiting to cash in on a birthday or Christmas present but get out there and start seeing more of them.
