Mystical Mulwala

I have friends who go camping on a regular basis and although would like to have joined them on quite a few occasions never got the chance until this weekend, and car packed, Jenna (youngest daughter) and I headed on a leisurely 4 hr road trip to the North of Victoria and the banks of the Murray River.

We arrived at the caravan park in Yarrawonga to find that we'd arrived early, as the rest of the group were still on a wine tasting tour of the area (as Jenna is too young to drink and we'd had plans the night before we'd come up a day later than everyone else, and thought they'd be back by the time we got here,)
Bags unpacked (we took the easy camping option going for a cabin :) without a bathroom so we could at least pretend when we had to run across to the shower block when the need arose.) we headed out to see what we could find. Yarrawonga is a small town, which in the summer has an influx of tourists because of the nearby lake which is great for boating, fishing and other water activities but in the winter it's a lot quieter. The main street, Belmore, is pretty, and doesn't take long to have a wander down even when stopping to window shop.
After a quick hot choccy it's in the car to take a drive

across the bridge to Mulwala (in New South Wales) and a look at the lake....which looked very mystical with the mist rising over it. The Lake was formed back in the early 1900s when the Murray River was dammed to provide water for the surrounding areas. Enjoyed walking around the lake, but it was time to get back for the campfire (yay for winter and no fire bans so we can have one) dinner and catch-up. It was a great evening and I think I need to do this camping stuff a bit more often :)
