Shanghai Bound

The first leg of many has started as Mikayla and I sit at Melbourne Airport thinking of the number of plane journeys we are going to be having (eight) and four train journeys, and how different each of the seven countries and three Disney parks we are visiting are going to be.

This long awaited birthday trip of Mikayla’s is essentially a Disney, Europe and New York trip. Ever since the idea of a birthday trip came up many years ago her heart had been set on LA (for a Halloween Disney experience)Italy and Thanksgiving in New York but as trip planning started a few more places were added to the mix (If you’re going as far as Italy is from Australia you may as well add a couple of extra places if you can so London for a revisit for both of us and Paris (for Disney) were added, as well as Krakow and Prague as places that I had never been too and am so excited to see.

Shanghai however was the wildcard and the reason we are stopping here is because we got a really good deal on a flight and had originally a ten hour layover which I was not impressed with, too short to do anything and way too long to be hanging around an airport on the way somewhere. However the draw-card of Shanghai Disney (to knock off another to-do list item for me) and a chance for another Disney for Mikayla was too much to resist, so I stress more that we are going to Shanghai Disney rather than Shanghai because we won’t be long enough there to appreciate the city.

There will be so much to see and experience and although we are only going to have a small taste of all those places I am hoping that the memories we make will be huge.
