80 THINGS TO DO BEFORE I TURN 80

 

 

I thought if I was going to start a travel blog I should have a to do list....to add to and cross off as I get to them....it's going to be a long one and ever changing I think. After all it's already changed....I've crossed off a lot on my first ever to do list, which was started over 30 years ago so I decided to start a new one...it began with 50 by 50 which is pushing it :) so changed it to 60...and then the list grew to 70 and then.......so why not 80 by 80....

 

1/See an  African Elephant in the wild.

2/To check my South Korea to do list and see what

I can knock off

3/Go hot air ballooning over the Serengeti.

4/To eat at the Fat Duck in London (or any Heston Blumenthal restaurant)

5/Walk the Inca Trail to Macchu Pichu.

6/To climb Mt Fuji.  

7/To do a tango in Buenos Aires.

8/Go to every Disney Park (three down, three to go) done 27/10/19)

9/Snorkel the Great Barrier Reef.

10/Do the canyon swing in Queenstown.

11/See the star filled skies near Uluru.

12/Walk the glass suspension bridge at Stone Buddha Mountain in the Shiniuzhai Geopark.

13/Spend time at a school in Africa

14/Do a cooking class in Thailand.

15/Stand in the mist above Victoria Falls.

16/Go back to the country I was born in, Zimbabwe.

17/Take a cable car up Table Mountain.

18/To lay a wreath at Auschwitz.

19/Take a walk over Charles Bridge in Prague.

20/Sail/cruise through the Panama canal.

21/To do a lanes and arcades tour of Melbourne

22/ To knock off the other seven observation wheels from my list; Singapore Flyer, Los Vegas High Roller, Navy Pier Ferris Wheel Chicago, Tianjin Eye China, London Eye, Riesenrad Vienna and Pacific Park Wheel Santa Monica.

23/Go ziplining, just about anywhere.

24/ To see the Igauzu Falls and take  jet boat through them

25/Have Thanksgiving dinner in New York (and do th e sales after)

26/To walk the Great Wall of China.

27/To go to Base camp at Everest.

28/To see a water puppet show in Vietnam

29/To walk the steps to the giant Buddha on Lantau Island.

30/.To stay in a villa in Tuscany

31/To do a cruise.

32/To find the Loch Ness Monster (or at least try and find it.)

33/To see Angkor Wat

34/To see a show at the Grand Ol' Opry in Nashville

35/To put a flower on the genocide memorial in Rwanda.

36/To see the Glaciers in Alaska.

37/to travel the Trans Siberian/Mongolian railway.

38/To see the Aurora Borealis.

39/To find Santa in the North Pole (and try and get off the naughty list.)

40/Drink yak milk in a yurt in Mongolia

41/To visit Myanmar before it becomes too touristy.

42/To go to an Olympic event (preferably gymnastics)

43/To take a helicopter ride over the volcanoes of Hawaii.

44/To volunteer at Peru Challenge if only for a week.

45/Christmas decorations at 333 Collins St.

46/To have my portrait painted in Montmatre

47/To go sandboarding in Namibia.

48/To see why the Blue Ridge Mountains are named that.

49/To see orangutans in their natural habitat.

50/To take a cable car up Sugar Loaf Mountain.

51/To ski in Switzerland.

52/ To go to a lantern festival in Asia

53/To drink port in Portugal.

54/to travel the Silk Rd.

55/to find street art in every city I visit

56/Lake Louise/Banff national park...what can I say.

57/Do the Docklands Public Art Walk.

58/To eat deep dish pizza in Chicago.

59/To walk in the Tatra mountains.

60/To see the Taj Mahal.

61/To drink tea in Sri Lanka.

62/Walk along the scary glass walkway at Tiannnen Mountain, Zhongjiajie.

63/Take a boat down the Amazon

64/Spend Halloween in the US. done 31/10/19

65/To go to a Bollywood movie in Bollywood.

66/to see cigars being made in Havana.

67/to watch a sunrise/sunset over a Mayan ruin.

68/to  go  to  the  womens  only  souk  in  Ibra  City  Oman.

69/ To eat injera and stew in Ethiopia

70/to  take  a  boat  ride  up  the  Nile  river.

71/To eat tapas in Madrid.

72/To see Komodo dragons in their natural habitat.

73/To take a paddleboat steamer down the Mississippi river.

74/to experience a sunrise and sunset in Africa.

75/Go to a Christmas market in Europe

76/Travel the trains in India

77/To jump out of an airplane (with a parachute on)

78/Check my Japan to-do list and see how many more I can knock off that list

79/To spend an evening under the stars at Bryce Canyon

80/To see the Plain of Jars in Laos.

81/To see the Grand Canyon from the south rim this time.

82/to check my to USA to do list and see what I can knock off

83/to experience some White Light Nights in other parts of the world, like St. Petersburg, Paris, Calgary, Sydney or Toronto

84/To see Blues Bands Perform in Memphis or New Orleans

85/Swim in a Icelandic lagoon.

86/Go up the glass elevator in Hubei...and walk along the walkway to the cliff top.

87/To stay at the Burg Al Arab(a high tea or a drink in the bar might do)

88/ Sail boarding anywhere in the world

89/ Go to North Korea.

90/To  visit  an  elephant  orphanage.

88/To see polar bears in the Arctic

89/ To check my Taiwan to do list and see what

I can knock off

90/ Walk the Golden Gate Bridge

91/ To see Petra

92/ Graceland....need I say more

93/ To go to the San Sebastian Festival in Puerto Rico

94/ To see Bilbao in Spain with it's beautiful old town, amazing architecture in the modern part and spectacular coastal scenery

95/ To see the as yet unrecognised country of Somaliland and the area around the horn of Africa when it is no longer war-torn

96/ Go up the observation decks in Shanghai to get a birds-eye view of this amazing city (and just see what else this city has to offer.

​96/ Exploring the Yu Gardens in Shanghai properly and not the touristy area around it that Westerners are confused by.
