What Would My Blog be Without Food ?

Of course there was going to be food, because I like to eat and when you travel it is part of the whole experience, eating local food or food that you've never tried before or just because it looks damned good (Mickey above was almost too cute to eat but was a lovely lemon cheesecake, the black part wasn't so good a weird tasting mochi but cute never the less.)

Our Shanghai drinks haul, missed my banana milk so had to have that of course. The lemon and pomegrante and peach drinks were very refreshing and much needed after a sticky day in Shanghai.
You can't be in Disney without eating something Mickey related and our breakfast was no exception,

mine was strawberries and a spiced pumpkin latte which I found a little disappointing, it was a normal latte with a spiced pumpkin cream. Mikayla's crepe was nutella and banana with a fruit punch
For lunch we avoided Disney food and instead chose to eat dumplings and a chicken noddle dish both were delicious.

We had a great leek and egg pancake for breakfast at Yuyuan which

cost us only Y10 (less than $3Aus) for something that was tasty and filling.
I loved street food when we were in South Korea and Taiwan and although not technically from a cart on the street the fishcakes from the supermarket tasted as good in Shanghai as they did earlier in the year.

And our last meal in Shanghai was an amazing spicy beef and pickled cabbage noodle dish which made me want to come back and eat more 'real' Chinese food.

Our first taste of US food were huge burgers, fries and onion rings which were greasy and delicious and got our burger fix in early (without being a burger place that we get back home)

Breakfast was waffles and maple syrup which wasn't as sweet as we have back home, biscuits and gravy

and eggs. Biscuits and gravy are weird, it's a scone served with a white mushrrom like gravy and once you stop thinking you need to have jam and cream or that the gravy should be brown you actually realise it is actually damn good.
We couldn't resist a Mexican meal as our Disney meal in the land of 'Coco'with tasty burritos,

tacos

and the cutest Mexican chocolate mousse with a white chocolate Dia De La Muertos Decoration.

We couldn't resist the baked goods from Jolly Holiday Bakery for our Disney treats and had apple tart

pumpkin spiced cheesecake and we shared one of their famous cinnamon rolls

but the cheesecake was the highlight for me, it tasted exactly as I had hoped, and made me excited for Thanksgiving

later in the month.

Of course we could not resist butter-beer in Hogsmeade, and we shared a corn dog

at Universal which was big enough to tide us over until we ate at Margaritaville for our dinner.
Dinner was delicious and very refreshing, at least mine was, Mikayla had a chicken enchilada

and I had an A-hi Tuna Poke, which is a Hawaiian dish with rice, tuna, pickled vegetables, sesame seeds and a passionfruit vinagrette which I would happily eat again.

My healthy choice went well out the window when I spotted key-lime pie on the menu and Mikayla found the chocolate brownie (both were moorish, totally unnecessary but so damned good and we are on holiday so we don't care)

on I topped off my day with a spiced pumpkin frappaccino which was nice, but I think for me a little too rich, I should probably have ordered a small rather than a regular but I'm glad I tried it.

Oddly enough I found vegetables, broccoli and cauliflower, in the US and at Disney, along with fried chicken which was pretty good.

I had to try the caramel apple shake which was good because the apple was tart which took away the sweetness of the caramel.

Our last meal in California was at the airport and I couldn't resist breakfast burritos and I wasn't disappointed, they were spicy and filling and I am looking forward to my next food adventures
