Thankfully Florence is a small city to limp around when you don't have a lot of time (yes I said limp...the one place that we don't have time to take time and I could have done with a new pair of legs but we tried to get in as many of the amazing sights that we could) From the Piazza del Duomo to Piazza della Signoria, to the Ponte de Vecchio to the Palazzo Pitti and Piazza San Marco, Florence is an artwork in itself,,,,,,you don't need to go into the Uffizi Gallery to enjoy the art because it is out there on display and it is stunning. The weather was on our side most of the day, however they were bracing for flooding as the Arno was running high and fast and although we got rained on a couple of times during the day it didn't start bucketing down until we were at the train station waiting for a train. Watching the news on Rome television I think we got out of Florence ahead of the flood. I wonder how we will fare in Rome!!!
