Damn it was cold today but fun, cold and wet and a little bit miserable, but not when it comes to Disney, seriously you have to be a real grouch if you feel miserable in Disney.
Our plans went out the window today, we were supposed to go to Mt. Fuji but the light snowfall we had in Tokyo was a whole lot heavier there and some of the roads were closed so we had to change plans. As our Japan rail pass isn't up and running until tomorrow we decided to do a little exploring this morning (using the Suice/Nex card) and head to Tokyo Disney later in the day instead of the day before we leave Japan.
I love the hotel staff at the Tokyo Plaza they greet us by name and this morning with the slushy snow coming down they offered us an umbrella, which we chose not to take but as I squelch back to the hotel I'm not sure that was a good idea.
Just in case you didn't realise it Tokyo is huge and we explored a lot, the train took us to the outskirts of town, and we got to see a different side to what we saw yesterday. It is so much bigger than I realised and I honestly don't know how long you'd need to get a really good look at the city, guess I'll just have to come back because I don't see us covering that much this time round (although I'm sure we'll try)
After a few train stops and a few vending machine hot chocolates to warm us up, we made it to Tokyo Disney.
You can't help but have fun at Disney, and that inner child just rushes to the surface. From Pirates of the Caribbean to Splash Mountain, from the Haunted Mansion to Space Mountain it's all there and with a little Japanese flavour to it.
Then there are the characters, everyone has a favourite, mine just happens to be Goofy so was pleased when he did his rounds.
You can't help but feel excited when you know the Disney parade is about to start and a gray miserable day feels a whole lot better.
Let's face it if there's a big kid inside of you, Disney is a great place to be.
