Freemont St, Absinthe and Hitsville

Another day in Vegas, and as we go through the casino I notice a guy sitting at one of the poker machines, and I'm sure he hasn't moved since we came in from Zarkana last night and if that's the case I dread to think how much money he's lost or won.

We had another late start and with no real plans we headed Downtown to Freemont St and encountered a whole bunch of people finishing up the Colour Run, wish I had known because I would have loved to have seen it or been part of it.

It's funny how different Freemont St seems (although I am sure at night it's like the Strip and I don't know if we'll get a chance to get back up and see it before we go ) but I like the feel to it during the day. It's not as busy and in your face as the Strip is, it's probably seedier and tackier but there is something more likeable about it. I think it's because it makes me think of watching re-runs of the Elvis movie 'Viva Las Vegas' and some of the old tv shows I remember watching when I was growing up (reruns of course :) ) I think Samara liked Freemont St better especially when we found a great

souvenir shop that we spent heaps in, half the price of some of the shops on the Strip so we don't need to shop anywhere else

We watched people abseiling/jumping off the Stratsophere and had a momentary thought about doing it which quickly went away. We thought about doing the rides as well, but.....decided the NY rollercoaster was enough, that is so cool, a rollercoaster going around and through the hotel, it was great and I'm sure we can fit in another ride or two before our stay in Vegas is done.

We headed back to the hotel to change and get to our shows, and to eat at Planet Hollywood in between the two.

First stop the V Theatre again and Hitsville which is a Motown show. If you love the music of that era well worth going to, the musicians were great and I think we sang along to every song. After dinner we

made our way to Caesar's Palace and drank mojitos (yummmy) before going into the show.

Absinthe....they advertise it as 'naughty and nice, exotic and erotic, wild and wacky' and that is exactly what it was. When the first words out of the MCs mouth is "If you don't like the word f@ck then you're in the wrong place" you kind of know what you're in for. It was hysterical and I am pleased that I was sitting a few rows back- out of the 'danger zone'. If you're sitting in any of those seats, be prepared and I hope you have a sense of humour because if they decide that you're a target you'll be the butt of many jokes as the night goes on. The comedy is very witty and naughty, irreverant and highly offensive, but damned funny.

The show over, and laughter ringing in our ears, we headed back to the hotel, preparing for an early start in the morning. I am really looking forward to getting out of Vegas for the day, I think I've had enough of the bright lights for the moment :)
