New York New York NY Style

Now the part of the US holiday that I've been waiting for and yes I manipulated a little...as Samara really didn't want to come to New York but Niagara Falls is on the Birthday Wish List...and I told her NY was probably the easiest place to do it from...so here we are.......

WOOHOO it's New York.

Our flight out was supposed to be at 12.10pm and thankfully the airport is about 10 minutes away so there was no pressure to be up early. Check in was interesting ( and it would have been nice to know we had to pay for our luggage ahead of time because that was a pain in the butt) You had to use machines to check in and of course the one we tried didn't work and then neither did the next and then on the third we got boarding passes but there was nothing to say that our cases were on and we'd paid for them so we had to get help. We had someone come over and help us, and then we ended up having to go to the desk anyway....oh joys!!!!!

Our flight was delayed in the end, another two hour delay because of weather so we are wondering if we are heading into storms (the travel agent we'd travelled to Bryce with had been in NY in January and had been in snowstorms so we wondered if we were heading into ths same)

The flight was a bit bumpy, hit a couple of big airpockets, which Samara hadn't experienced before so that was funny for me.

We arrived at JFK, fricking freezing after Vegas, and had to wait about 20mins for our transfer which wasn't too bad but that chill wind makes me wonder if I've got enough warm clothes (I didn't feel this cold in Japan when we were walking through the snow)

We got to the Milford Plaza our NY home and it's a great hotel in a great location (on the corner of 8th Avenue and 45th St) although undergoing renovations at the moment (which is probably why we got it so cheap....not sure I will be able to afford it the next trip to NY)

OMG the best spot ever as there are some great restaurants around, a real good bakery where we picked up canoli, and a few pizzerias where we picked

up a slice. Best of all is that it is two minutes down the road from Times Square and of course I don't care that it's nearly midnight I'm heading to Times Square, just for a look, and the bright lights and business at that time of night are just great (funny how I love the bright lights and craziness of New York, but not so keen on the same thing in Vegas....but then again.... it's New York :)
