This morning coats, gloves and scarves, this evening walking around in t-shirts....who would have thought!!!
Samara and I had another early morning...after a late night last night organising overselves for our last leg of the trip, California- zoos and theme parks!!!!
First stop a quick wander and a last linger...before the post office opened....we knew we were heading into warmer weather (but not quite as warm as we got....the hottest February in a few years we've been told) so we decided to ditch some stuff and send it home, so we can buy more stuff in LA :) A box full of jumpers and some dirty washing was packaged up and sent home... (if someone decides to steal that package... sucks to be them LOL)
Unfortunately we have a 12noon flight, and a 10am pick up so there was no time to really enjoy the morning in NY. We arrived at JFK in plenty of time, but another couple on our transfer were really p'd off because they were on the transfer to JFK and they were supposed to be going to La Guardia...ooops!!!
The flight was uneventful...and it was great in daylight to see the wide expanse of the United States beneath us...which tells me there is an awful lot of the US I am missing by flying!!! And I guess that means I'll have to come back and do a road trip of the US some day!!!
We arrived in LA to balmy weather-a bit of a shock after freezing our butts off in NY...but preparing us for the heatwave at home. By 5pm we were at our hotel in Anaheim, the Howard Johnson which is a nice family friendly hotel, and I'm glad it's winter (even though damned warm) because I imagine it's packed in summer.
The hotel is in a great location for us over the next few days. We are going to be so busy while we're in LA that we wanted to be somewhere that was safe to walk around at night and there are so many people around because it's across the way from Disney that if we're up to it after our busy days we can still head out at night and see something other than a hotel room.
We take a quick walk up to see where the Disney entrance is, and even though it wasn't that long ago that we were at Tokyo Disney I'm looking forward to going again. After that we head to the Anaheim Gardenwalk Shops for a look, and then to Mimi's Cafe for dinner, a great turkey roast dinner with vegetables and strawberry daiquiris...yummy, and then it's time to hit the coffee machine (a pod one-and the great hot chocolate in the hotel shop) watch some late night TV and try and get some sleep.
